Session 113: Shams & Shipments

"Yes. It was definitely these monsters that almost killed your brother."

General Summary

The party landed in Tjetathis after a few days travel down the Drumtawa River. During the journey Chari, still inhabiting the party's magical trident, took over a small school of quipper. For the moment, the group kept her in a small bucket. Bart and Jinn assumed false identities and went into town posing as fresh-faced adventurers looking for work. Hero and Spackle made their way to the local tavern where they learned of work protecting a caravan passing through
With a little sleuthing the pair determined the heartwood they sought was likely being held in one of the local cart-houses. It was guarded, though not heavily. They hatched a plan for Osdra to quickly teleport the cart back to the grove while they took out security.
At first, the plan seemed to go off without a hitch. Chari's bucket of quippers thoroughly surprised and distracted one of the wardens. Bart kept another of the sentries at bay. However, the guards Jinn encountered were not quite what they seemed. It was not until Bart beheaded one that they discovered the truth--several of the hired help were actually thri-kreen mercenaries disguised as humanoids.
This was not, however, the most disturbing discovery in the warehouse. The party opened one of the crates only to find a twisted mockery of a person, all claws and extended jaws and groans of misery. Micah bravely faced the creature, but was brought down by its razor-sharp talons. Bart landed the final blow and smote the creature with the divine power of Lliira.
In the aftermath the group realized--to their horror--that there were many more of the sealed containers within the warehouse and Osdra would be unable to transport them. Bart and Jinn hatched a dangerous plan to summon Mani Mara'hid through the power of her birthgift. She would be able to transport the group, as well as the dangerous cargo, back to Mas'Uld.
