This group of mages represent the most powerful and wealthy of those within Galiesia. Each council member speaks on behalf of one of the nine Galiesian provinces, and is required to spend a minimum of three months annually within the area of their jurisdiction. Seats upon the council are frequently, though not always, inherited. It is always possible for an up-and-coming individual to challenge the incumbent to a duel for a position at the table. However, the costs associated with formal duel permits and fines for defeat ensure that this is a relatively rare occurrence.
