Corsegardin Hollow Settlement in Caelvoran | World Anvil

Corsegardin Hollow

Corsegardin Hollow is a thriving town on the shores of Lake Ossier. The name references the origin of the lake and the original moniker of the area where the city now stands. Hundreds of years ago, a felled First-Age weapon plummeted into the valley, creating an enormous impact crater. Over time the crater filled with water to create Lake Ossier. The surrounding area proved to be rich with natural resources, drawing the hopeful and industrious looking to make their fortunes. As the local economy grew, so too did the town. Laborers started or sent for their families. Homes and markets sprang up both on and within the bones of the great beast. The rapidly-expanding city now finds itself a strange hodgepodge of merchants, laborers, and, in the warmer months, tourists.   Whether a product of proximity to decaying divinity, or simply luck, Corsegardin’s environs are full of flora and fauna both strange and wondrous. While this has, at times, put the town in danger, it has also had the unintended consequences of drawing in a certain type of clientele. Exotic ingredients sourced from the caves and forests draw collectors and bounty hunters. Many would-be adventurers come to cut their teeth on the monsters that inhabit the area. More recently, Corsegarden has seen a niche tourism market emerge for the sufficiently wealthy, curious, and foolhardy.

Frill Markets

The Frill Markets or, “The Frill” is a kaleidoscope of canvas tarps, platforms, and hanging lanterns that have coalesced into a collection of relatively permanent shops and stalls. The clientele of the Frill tends toward the more eclectic. In the darkened corners of these markets a greased palm, or the right word in the right ear, can gain access to goods both exotic and contraband.
