Livaen
What Is This?
Livaen is a rare blue metal only found in the caves of Oceanus Agrum.
Appearance
Livaen ore is jagged and lavender with grey holes and indigo- and cyan-coloured stones sticking out of them. After extraction and cleaning, the resulting metal is bright blue.
Extraction and Cleaning
The ore is extracted using a surprising method: magic (yes, magic) and Bejeweled dolphins. Specially skilled tamers guide the dolphins to a chosen livaen ore deposit, where safety nets have been set up. The tamers create small explosive bubbles in front of the animals and then burst them. The loud burst startles the dolphins, causing them to aim their blowholes at the sound and shoot a powerful jet of water. It hits the deposit, dislodging the ore and sending it into the safety of the nets.
Don’t worry, we give them treats and pets afterwards to calm them down.
First, the collected ore is placed in large pots and suspended above the sea floor. Multiple large explosive bubbles are set off under the pots, causing them to burst violently. The intense heat generated by the explosions melts the ore, and magic is used to remove impurities and clean it. The pots containing molten livaen are then brought to the surface and left in the sun to dry. Afterwards, the solid metal is removed from the pots, chiselled into ingots, and polished.
Uses
Construction and Decoration
Due to its strong resistance to water corrosion, this metal is extensively used as a construction material for underwater structures. Livaen can also be fused with quartz, giving quartz buildings beautiful blue accents.
Jewels and Trinkets
Livaen is ideal for crafting jewellery due to its attractive appearance and lustre. When combined with sapphires and opal, it can create truly gorgeous ornaments. Trinkets and other decorations such as staffs and crowns made from livaen alone are only worn by chiefs and members of Oceanus Agrum’s Central Church.
Trade
Livaen is only found in one location, which gives it a high perceived value among other angel races. They eagerly buy it in large quantities to decorate homes, clothing, and even weapons like arrows and swords. This generates a lot of revenue for Oceanus Agrum and boosts its economy.
Trade is facilitated and monitored by the region’s Central Church. They also commissioned coins made of the metal, called liva coins, which is the second most valuable currency in Caelumen.

I love that it's explosively mined by dolphins! Such a great material I love it!
Thank you! This is the most thought I've put into a material ^^
