Tooth Faeries Species in Cadilon | World Anvil

Tooth Faeries

Tooth Faeries are a small creature from the The Realm of the Faerie. Though they are thinking creatures, they are not very intelligent or learned and approach life and decision making by following their often depraved desires and impulses.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Tooth Faeries are small sprite like beings that stand between 8 and 12" tall. They have tiny bodies and large heads with jet black eyes. They are normally very thin with sharp claw like nails and toes. They have four thin wings similar to dragonfly wings, but the membrane that covers them is more fleshy and often riddles with holes and small tears from fights that the creatures get into.

Ecology and Habitats

Tooth Faeries live mostly in hollowed out areas of trees. Their wings let them access the higher branches and hollows, which keeps them out of the reach of many predators. Since they need bones to survive, most will live near populated areas, or will become migratory as they follow heards of animals.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Believed to suffer from a sevear calcium deficiency, Tooth Faeries seem to have a strong craving and desire for bones. Given their small size, teeth is what they collect and consume the most of, though their diet also consists of meat, often from insects, and vegetables.

Tooth Faeries are varied in behaviour. Some will strike deals with other creatures for their lost teeth, while others will attempt to take and steel teeth or bones.

Behaviour

Tooth Faeries tend to be cowerdly, though there are some who have become more malisious and bold. They collect and nest in groups called gangs. Tooth Faeries Gangs normally consist of between 5 to 20 faeries. Though some are related, most are not.

It is not uncommon for Tooth Faeries to go, and stay, invisiable. They know they are small in stature and weaker than most other creatures and are not likely to try to fight someone or something they know they will loose to. If desperate, they tend to fight just enough to ensure they will be able to escape alive. Instead, they perfer to barter with other creatures, offering information in exchange for their lives or teeth.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Tooth Faeries can see perfectly in the dark. Their large black eyes take in more light that most eyes can, and the innate magic that runs through them turns even the most lightless environment into bright scenes. They have a supernatural ability to see and sense magic around them. They have large ears as well, giving them extraordinary hearing.

These small fey can sense bones, but their favourite is teeth. Like a moth to a flame, they can sense lost teeth or exposed bones from miles away.
