House in the Rock

The seat of power for the Dwarves. It’s a perfectly serviceable Dwarven Fortress, carved into the Eschaton-forged mountains - but it’s a mountain house, not a mountainhome. They are not part of the Empire, but they have a deal with Mundus. The Dwarves sell Mundus much-needed ores and coal (especially coal) for surface goods at the Mundan trade outpost Limani to the south, and in exchange, the Mundans mind their own goddamn business and leave the Dwarves alone. The Dwarves are particularly standoffish and isolationist, even by Dwarven standards, but they are known to do business with outsiders.

Their attitude to magic users depends a great deal on how much they like you, but in general, they keep it secret, and keep it safe. They don’t get a lot of Imperial attention, and they’d like to keep it that way. Outsiders and non-dwarves are on thin ice - use magic obviously and they’ll have no choice but to turn you in, if only to keep Inquitors from breathing down their necks.

Whatever they're doing down there, they're keeping it in-house, so to speak.

Defences

Being a mountain fortress guarded by armed Dwarves, probably.

Industry & Trade

coal and ore! They are exclusive providers for the Empire, in exchange for the Empire leaving them alone.

Infrastructure

They aren't on any electric grid, but the Mundan outpost nearby is.   Few outsiders know what the situation is like inside the House, but they haven't missed an ore shipment quota yet.

Architecture

The outside of the House is of the highest craftsdwarfship. It menaces with spikes of marble. There is a statue of a Dwarf. The Dwarf is raising a hammer to the sky.

Natural Resources

Ore and coal, probably. Gems too, no doubt.
