Desolocean
A deep, lifeless, unnaturally still expanse of water, as far as the eye can see.
There is no weather as we know it in the Desolocean. No storms, or squalls. The Desolocean is not affected by coastal weather. Precisely three miles from the coast, even the most torrential downpours abruptly stop. The sky that streches over this barren expanse is that of a gloomy, overcast day, in perpetuity. The natural time of day appears to have no bearing on the Desolocean. Sailors have dubbed the unnaturally mercurial winds that blow randomly across the Desolocean the ghostwinds, so named because they do not disturb its mirror-smooth surface. The seafaring vessels of mortal races are the only known objects to disturb the preternatural tranquility of the Desolocean.
Many foolhardy captains have entered the Desolocean, only to be swallowed up by sudden, thick fog. This mist appears to be the only other form of "weather" in the area. No one who enters the fog returns alive. Sometimes the ghostwinds blow empty vessels back to shore. Sometimes the vessels aren't empty, and the untouched corpses of the crew betray no clues as to cause of death.

Geography
Archaeological records and elf-lore suggests that the Desolocean used to be a larger continent, presumably destroyed during the Eskaton.
The The Remnant Archipelago is all that remains of that ancient landmass.
