Arc One: Session Two

General Summary

The hunters return to Barnett's Odd Jobs bright and early to meet up with Casey Barnett. They begin to talk about their own knowledge of the house as the other three share their experiences. They decide to look into this Joanna, as Casey knows the woman who owns Joan's Bouquets.
Liz texts her West Agency associates to look up information, and then drives the other two first to the flower shop. They meet Joan, who speaks of her previous employee Joanna, who apparently disappeared one day. Because of her closeness with Casey, she digs up Joanna's last address and hands it over.
The woman who lives in Joanna's old place claims to know nothing about it, but mentions that the man who lives underneath her has lived in this complex for a long time. However, he is not home, so Liz leaves a notes and contact information before they head to the University, hoping the library might have something for them to latch onto.

• Cal looks into the occult and finds a passage about the tsuchigumo-doku, who appears to fit the bill of the spiders who came after the three of them last night.
• Avery looks more into Professor Basso, determining some of her public history and that she lives on campus as well, not far from Avery.
• Liz discovers that while people have noticed damage done to part of the Aurora Trail, no one has noted a lot of spiders or webbing there.

However, Liz does notice a spider herself while she is reading and moves away to discuss with the others. As they share their information, Owen gets back to Liz about Basso. She once had two children, who went missing twelve years ago. They were never found. From there, they go to Basso's office, to find that Brendan is actually her teacher's assistant. Cal notes the unnatural amount of spiders hanging out in the corners of the room, surrounded by a faint glow. The three begin to interrogate Brendan in the way that shows how little charm the team has, but fortunately with Avery there Brendan is relatively open. He talks about her ex husband trying to contact her a year ago, but that it seemed resolved.
Basso arrives. Liz asks her about the Gulch and current missing children, which Basso denies having any current knowledge of. Cal notes the spiders have left. With that in mind, they return to Odd Jobs.
