Arc One: Session Four
General Summary
In the Odd Job's basement, Casey regretfully informs the group the university refuses to close - no one else sees a problem. Avery, Cal, and Casey return to the campus while Liz begins to do more research.
Looking for where the professor lives, a spider catches Avery and Cal with some venom. Casey smacks it back, but Cal skewers it, before they go to clean up. Casey takes them forward to where Cal spotted Basso's name and knocks on the door, asking to use the professor's facilities to clean up. While slightly suspicious, she helps Avery get cleaned up. They tell Basso about Brendan (leaving out the spider), but other than noticing a few more cobwebs Basso hasn't noticed anything she thinks is unusual.
Meanwhile, Liz gets a call from Sully, who is not all that friendly. Liz convinces him to talk, but he only agrees to do it face to face at Slandwar Square. When asked about Joanna, Sully claims she went off travelling, telling Liz she is jumping at ghosts. Suspicious but unable to get more from him, Liz is going to return to Odd Jobs when Owen calls her. Therese is in the hospital, after "falling" down the stairs. Liz heads there to check on her other assistant.
Cal, Avery and Casey leave to find the outside is covered in the thick sticky webs, and more spiders... including the huge spider Cal shot the other night. Avery quickly cuts a path back to the car, and the knife burns the webbing with power Avery didn't know was there. The get out of there.
Therese tells Liz she thinks something was there. Her shoe stuck on a step, causing her fall, though no one else found anything. Liz promises to look into it and heads back to Odd Jobs. Brendan is up and outside, with Callie there with her motorcycle. Liz helps Brendan calm Callie down, and she takes him back home. When the others show up, the four share what happened on either side of their investigation, Liz, Cal, Avery and Casey all crash in the basement.
As Liz and Cal drift off, Casey speaks with Avery about their dagger. Casey promises to help Avery figure out how to use their magic to the best of their ability, and Avery promises to tell Casey some stories about their mother.
