Static Craft

Serving as the newest in propulsion technology, static craft are only achievable due to the sheer power density of nuclear power. They are exclusively operated as experimental craft of various governments on various planets and moons. Most of these craft are currently serving in scouting roles.

Power Generation

All static craft utilize small, compact nuclear reactors which use gases as their coolant. Most reactor designs are pebble bed for weight saving purposes.

Propulsion

Propulsion is based on and inspired by how spiders use silk to propel themselves through the air using static fields present in the atmosphere. Long, thin strands of silk are charged via friction belts to very high voltages (maximum allowable voltage depends on the makeup of the air around the craft and how likely it is to support arcing between strands). To put things simply, the craft is run like a Van De Graff generator on steroids with silk connected to it.   Effectiveness of propulsion depends very heavily on how much moisture is present in the air. This has lead to multiple types of static craft being build, each specialized for a specific climate.

Weapons & Armament

Most crafts sport strong electromagnetic pads which are used to levitate steel and iron objects and throw them long distances. This translates into ships which carry steel balls, steel spears and swords.

Armor and defense

Since every gram counts, the craft lacks any decent amount of armor, often relying on Soul Steel reactor vessels to harden the thin hull during conflicts.

Additional & auxiliary systems

Seagoing static craft have been fitted with special equipment to freeze surrounding water for various uses.
