Soul Steel

The result of smelting chunks of the Smokey Spires, this metal often has a texture resembling what appears to some as screaming faces. Soul steel has many ordinary properties just like regular steel. The difference comes in when the metal is actually used to make something. Be it a sword, shield, chest plate, engine block, reactor vessel, etc, the steel may occasionally "harden" the object it has been used to construct. This will make said object much more resistant to damage. However, any damage that the object would have sustained is now applied to the soul steel itself, often making the steel warp and gain a more blemished look. If allowed to sustain enough damage, the steel will fracture and no longer provide this "hardening" effect.
