Ensorcelled

Anyone who decides to play as a non-Changeling will likely need to be Ensorcelled. Players may also wish to ensorcel close mortal allies so that they can see the weirdness for themselves. As long as the ensorcelled mortal fulfills their promised tasks they maintain the benefit of the enchantment. Ensorcellment is done as part of a Bargain and costs one point of Glamour and one point of Willpower.

Ensorcelled (Persistent)

You have a gift allowing you to see beyond the Mask, exposing the fae Mien underneath. In addition, you maintain your lucidity in the Hedge.

Causes: This is usually the result of being given a dollop of Glamour as part of a Bargain. Some people, such as the seventh child of a seventh child, are naturally ensorcelled by circumstances of birth or strange twists of fate.

Beat: Reacting to the hidden fae part of the world causes negative social consequences among the unaware or other setbacks, such as becoming a target for supernatural threats.

Resolution: You break the Bargain or the other party retrieves the Glamour they invested in you.

Cultural Reception

Children who are born ensorcelled often have difficulties growing up due to seeing things that others can't. It can be written off as an overactive imagination, but more frequently is taken as an excuse for disobedience or mental illness. On rare occasions, a naturally ensorcelled child may be celebrated by those parents who seek out the paranormal or interpret their children's vision through a religious lens.

The Silver Spire generally encourages great care in choosing to ensorcel a person, since they need to be trustworthy, and many people will act differently once they're truly aware of the fae portion of the world. Some believe that ensorcelling a person makes them a more attractive target for the Gentry, even if just for the Glamour invested in them, and tend to communicate this risk. Most frequently, Changelings will ensorcel mortals, especially their Touchstones, for the sake of having a stable individual they can confide in.
