Lines and Veils
A slightly more thorough exploration of this topic and tools can be found here:
What do the terms "lines" and "veils" mean?or frankly, any number of places by searching online for “rpg lines and veils”.
Please do take a moment to check it out if you’d like additional insight than what I’m providing. But in short, to quote.
A line is, well, a line — a hard limit, something we do not want to cross. Lines represent places we don't want to go in roleplaying. A veil is a "pan away" or "fade to black" moment. When we veil something, we're making it a part of the story, but keeping it out of the spotlight. Think of it as a way to still deal with certain themes while avoiding having to describe them in graphic detail. This is a game about heroic people encountering, fighting against, and enduring unrealistically unpleasant things, over and over again. For example, I have never killed anyone, even in self defense. I have never robbed anyone, much less combined the two and looted their corpse. But it is likely that your characters will do so, on a routine basis, justified or otherwise.
