... continuing from the steam demon brawl in the Bows End kitchen.
Head Chef Kerdi (Dverger with horned chefs hat), milk on face for spice burns Tulk tusktooth, Proprietor, turning the air blue with swears, and questioning what happened Student assistant chefs were taken to Informarium to recover consciousness.

Quastratraaa, a blue and purple hued hyper-dense forest world, in a wizard's tower, in a quiet reading room, Ictalgor Glixagleb, a plasmoid life-form, is reading, educating himself in secret.
A kobold messenger gives him a letter.
Days later, Ictalgor, puzzling over a bestiary to find out what that creature was. A magical circle in the middle of the room glows and 3 taller bipedal silver creatures appear, students in hazmat suits.
Ictalgor introduces himself, friendly greetings. Very curious researchers from another world, Strixhaven. Symbols on their silver garb matches the invitation. They agree to take him back to Strixhaven, and ask assistance with their research project. The planet suffers from a curse, Curies' Curious Glow, which killed the previous researcher.
Hmidi researchers, medical and alchemical personnel, research and examine, and test Iptalgor. He is not highly radioactive. Ictalgor tours campuses, especially Quandrix campus.

Orientation Week

As new life forms materialize in the commons, Ipthalgor joins in orientation, takes dorm space in Bigby Hall, Main campus.
Before 1st class, a bush (containing a greenish humanoid wearing cargo shorts, sandals) asks Ictalgor whether he has seen a ghost. Asks for help looking for a displacer goose. Pursuit around campus, Biblioplex, through gardens, hedges. Mr. Haggart, chief of animal control.

Bow's End

Mr. Haggart vaults into kitchen, which makes Voldrumon fall into a cauldron. Cauldron breaks free from it's mount, and rolls away down the street. Ictalgor nearly got run down by it in the doorway. Haggart caught the goose. Lazeah, Thalia, and Loji remain in the kitchen.
Ictalgor, curious about what happened, introduces himself. Noone knows what happened. "Bloody steam demons"
Cauldrons are coated in blackish greasy oily substance. Thalia smears a sample into a jar. Lazeah, Thalia and Loji follow Icthalgor to the alleyway behind the kitchen for Ictalgor, to identify the goo. It glowed, there was magic in it. The goo sucked in the magic, including the identify spell information, and exploded the jar. They recall together uncarbon and other normal organic matter stuff flashed in the identify spell symbols so briefly, and figure out the goo absorbs magic. It exploded because of absorbing too much magic for its weight.

Investigating uncarbon

Ictalgor gets a new sample, and we go to Biblioplex for a bite and some research. We found uncarbon is not native to material plane. Mordikainen theorized it can only form in the place between all the other places, like webbing that filters all places from one another. It is harvested and manipulated to absorb and contain magical fields. It can be used for capacitance, for storing magic energy, like keeping wands from losing charge. The reference book doesn't say anything about exploding. Examples include using it on crystals on staffs, wand cores, or as preservatives that can be varnished on an item to make it carry more charge or not lose charge. If you make it wrong, the uncarbon disappears.
We meet at Biblioplex in the morning to continuing investigation.
A young spectacled orc nearly runs into us, Lazeah gets Colonel to follow him.
Admin folks recommend the experts at the main alchemy buillding. Everyone is locked out of the alchemy building, there is no way into the building. We were able to get a 1pm appointment, provided there is somewhere to meet. We'll be back.
