Lady Gwiona of Idmiston

Lady Gwiona ͏͏͏͏

Gwiona was the wife of Sir Artaire of Idmiston and the clumsy lady-in-waiting to Countess Ellen of Salisbury, her good friend since childhood.   Immensely unlucky, Gwiona had been engaged many times and her suitors all unexpectedly died. She had seen local priests many times to verify that she is not cursed.   Earl Roderick of Salisbury offered to arrange a marriage between Gwiona and the equally unlucky Sir Artaire, and they finally married in 485. Gwiona lived in Idmiston and rode in to Sarum every morning to tend to the countess.   She died in childbirth in 487 giving birth to her daughter, Nyneve of Idmiston.
