Battle of Mearcred Creek
The Battle of Mearcred Creek was a large historical battle fought in Sussex between the armies of King Uther Pendragon and Cyning Ælle of Sussex and his son Ætheling Cissa of Sussex in 485.
Believing Cyning Ælle to be a pressing threat, King Uther mustered his armies in Salisbury and Silchester to attack the Saxon kingdom of Sussex. The armies met at Mearcred Creek.
The battle was well-fought by both sides, and ultimately there was a mutual retreat and no victor was declared.
It is believed that the fight was a diversion to allow the Alliance of the East Saxons to attack other strategic locations across Logres.
