Half-Elementals, Ifriti, Oread, Sylph, Undine
Ifriti Oread Sylph and Undine are bundled together since they have the same origin and function the same. They just represent different elements. Although these races don't only spawn from elementals there mostly referred to collectively as half-elementals
These races are all half elementals born of the union between humans and creatures from one of the elemental planes. Sometimes these half-elementals can have other half-elemental kids. There is about a 1/4 chance of this happening. The chance of this child having a half-elemental kid is 1/16th, that kid has a 1/64 chance of getting another half-elemental kid and so on.
Generally these races are regarded as special due to there longer lifespans and innate powers.
The link these races have to the elemental planes is tied to emotions and often shows what a person is feeling. A sad Undine might cry with a small stream of water instead of tears, a sad Oread might cause the ground around him to be a bit muddy, an exited Ifriti might visibly flare up or become much dimmer when sad, an angry Sylph might create a small noticeable gust of wind and if there in love they might create a pleasant breeze. In general these half-elementals also tend to be more emotional than regular humans.
In very rare occasions when a half-elemental has a very strong emotional moment, usually in the case of immense sadness or rage, there link to there elemental plane flares up creating a massive outburst in energy that harms anybody nearby including the half-elemental themselves. Over the centuries many people have tried to harness this burst of energy for themselves however this hasn't seemed to work. Controlled emotions like that of a barbarian don't seem severe enough to trigger an outburst of energy and efforts to artificially induce these emotions on victims have not proven reliable enough to use in combat.
