Grumbil

LN 'Just like one must respect their elders, one must respect the dead and not heave upon theme any expectations of the living.'

The dwarves have long venerated there ancestors before they started praying to the gods. Thus most gods worshiped in the dwarven holds where once dwarves.   One such dwarf is Grumbil who's existence as God is suspect by some scholars. Grumbil predates the history of the dwarves worship of the gods and no tales from oral history speak of his asendence yet he is worshiped as a god all the same. Grumbil was a great philosopher of his time when dwarves discovered the ability to bind the spirits of there dead to constructs for eternal service. Many dwarves had agreed to forfeit there soul upon dead out of a sense of duty but after putting these techniques into practise holds suffered strange baelefull occurrences and declining birth rates. Whilst scholars where stumped as to why all these calameties where happening Gurmbil posed they where cries of pain from the bound souls. Grumbil posited that the living could not relate to what the existence of the dead must be like even if they could communicate with them. He then stated that ‘the living may not decide the fate of the dead’ as they had no say in such a different form of existence. A person should not even decide the fate of there own soul for they have no ability to understand the consequences of this choice. Whilst many where skeptical enough agreed that spirits where released from there bindings and the ill effects started to dissipate. This news then spread across the holds and the philosophy of Grumbil Was taken to heart in dwarven culture.
