The Profane Lands
The Profane Lands are mysterious and was only discovered within the last one hundred years by a group of sailors from Ivoura. Upon arriving anyone who worshipped a deity of any kind began to feel great unease. The sailors explored the island finding strange buildings that did not match any architecture they were familiar with. The buildings were giant sized and made of stone, strangely the buildings weren’t ruins and were very well preserved despite no signs of any recent activity. The group pressed on and came face to face with a large entrance at the base of a great mountain. Being only sailors they declared they would not continue on. But a strange humming began to echo from the entrance and those who had not felt the uneasiness began to walk into the entrance. Those who were uneasy attempted to stop them from walking toward it but were unable to. Those who remained decided it was unwise to go in after them and departed back to their ship.
With this information they charted where the island was and left instantly feeling relief as they got back on the sea. When they returned to Ivoura they told the tale of the Profane Lands, which is what the continent became known as. Hearing of the Profane Lands was a famous explorer named Amerigo Gallo, who declared he would venture out and explore the Profane Lands. Amerigo was famous for charting the vast amount of islands in Gebrijan. Following the chart from the surviving sailors Amerigo ventured to the Profane Lands and mapped the land mass. Amerigo, a dwarven fellow, was fortunately a follower of Moradin and when he found the entrance talked about at the base of the mountain he wasn’t drawn to it. One of his men however was but luckily Amerigo was able to restrain him and drag him away. Despite his want to explore the strange mountain decided it may be wise to not enter.
Returning to his ship the man who was drawn to the entrance, babbled in a strange tongue and had to be tied to a bed as he kept trying to jump from the ship. His eyes had occasional strange lights in them, that moved separate to the man's own movements. Eventually the man got loose of his binds and leaped from the ship in the middle of a storm. Those who saw him through the rain and wind of the storm claimed he leaped from the ship and with all of this might began to swim back toward the Profane Lands. Many are spooked by the tales of the Profane Lands, some think of them as just fairytales are they?
