Gebrijan
Creation of Tieflings and the Blood War
Gebrijan (Geb-brá-jan) is the closest continent to Draconis and is not one landmass but over two hundred small islands. Because of this Gebrijan is often referred to as the Gebrijan Archipelago. Long ago Gebrijan was one large continent that was split into the archipelago after the war the Blood Wars spilled out into Breyox. The war was brutal and the Gebrijan people felt the brunt of it. The proximity to an open portal to the Hells began to change the largely human populous to become shaped more like devils. The war went on for several years because of this many of the transformed humans of Gebrijan were enslaved and forced to fight in the war. The people hoped one day that they would be free of their chains and that peace would return to their land. An unkown person would eventually close the portal and the devils and demons were called back to fight their war in Avernus. But in doing this Gebrijan was split into thousands of islands. The Feast of Wars End
The people of Gebrijan now free of demons, devils, and war did what anyone would do, they threw a party. The party lasted for two hundred days, a number that became a part of tiefling culture. On the final day of the parties the tieflings declared that day the End of the Blood Wars, a holiday that is celebrated on the fifteenth of Sydenstar. The holiday became known as The Feast of Wars End and involves heavy drinking, heavy eating, singing, dancing, gifts, colorful costumes, and jokes, a very happy occasion that is religiously celebrated by tieflings everywhere. The Feast of Wars End became the anchor for almost all of tiefling culture. The fact that Gebrijan was made up of so many islands made most of their culture revolve around sailing and boats, and the Gebrijan people pride themselves for having the fastest ships in Breyox. Because of this tieflings you find outside of Gebrijan are oftentimes merchants who travel by ship, which is why you will often find tieflings in harbor towns. Tieflings are some of the best traders in the world dealing in fine cloth, wines, fruit, and even some high quality weaponry made of scorched steel. Scorched steel is the same as regular steel, only rarer as it can only be found in Gebrijan. Scorched steel was left behind from the Blood War. Because of the frivolity of the Feast of Wars End, the tiefling people having stared at darkness and blood for so long took to wearing bright and colorful clothes. Due to the hot weather in Gebrijan it became custom to wear loose flowing clothing with fine embroidering and lots of different colors. The embroidery often depicts various things but is always unique to that specific person. For example if they are particularly religious it might show religious iconography for their deity. The embroidery could depict your life story, your job, etc. These embroideries are a custom that has been around since the first Feast of Wars End.Tiefling Culture
Tieflings are often free flowing when it comes to relationships. Even though marriage is still fairly common among tieflings, it isn’t seen as a crime to pursue relationships outside of this. However despite this family means a lot to the tiefling race, for example if you have a child with someone that child and the person you have the child with is your family. At times a tieflings family can grow to be massive if a tiefling is particularly active. However as previously mentioned this is only some tieflings, and as the years have gone on its growing more and more common for a tiefling to just have one relationship. When it comes to language most tieflings prefer to use common over infernal, as using infernal brings back ill memories of the Blood War. Spread throughout the archipelago are around two million people which is primarily tieflings with 87% of the population. 8% of the population are humans that have come to Gebrijan for trading reasons or just to enjoy the culture of the tieflings. The other 5% are various races that have similarly traveled to Gebrijan to enjoy the culture there. The largest city in Gebrijan is Port Azienda with around seven hundred and seventy five people living there. There aren’t really any other major cities in Gebrijan just occasional port towns on the many islands there.Gebrijan Government
Gebrijan isn’t ruled by any one person and instead ruled by counselors of various different political affiliations. Its similar to a representative democracy but it only has one branch. Based on the population of an island they get a certain amount of representatives in the Giudice (Ju-deech-a) Hall. This means a large majority of the giudice are from Port Azienda which has caused some political strife. The giudice decides for overall laws of the land and acts as a sort of federal government called the Amministrazione (a-mini-strat-zoni). While each giudice rules over their section of land. Whether that be a section of a city or a whole island. The giudice have the right to make their own laws for their land but such laws cannot override or contradict the Amministrazione laws. If such laws are questionable it goes to the Giudice Hall who vote to decide a ruling on it. Because the government is primarily based on the Amministrazione laws, they have a law for almost everything in Gebrijan.
