The Magical World of the Gauntlet

The world is ever flowing with a tangible pulse, Young One. Knowing that pulse and how to use it, is what allows us to manipulate and harness it for what we call magic.
— A Briar Witch

The world as we know follows with these six main kinda of magic uses. While likely not the only types, these are the largest and more used umbrella terms.

Destruction

Simple in it's use, destruction magic revolves around using the power of nature through magic. Abilities and spells than call forth the use of the elements to smite the the fuck out of your target or targets.

Conjuration

The ability to call forth beings, creatures, weapons, or armor. Often short lived but powerful. Whether it is calling forth a fire elemental or a werewolf, or even a weapon, conjuration could be just as damaging as destruction.

Necromancy

While considered dark by most beings, doesn't always mean as such. While it can be used to raise the dead, it can also be used to take life from one to give to another not normally your self. Sapping life and holding onto it regularly has negative effects for the magic user.

Restoration

Healing, mending, and fixing items. The bread and butter of any healer, fixer, or even tinkerer. From healing wounds to restoring a rusted blade. Everything dealing with restoring something to it's former glory is stuffed here.

Alteration

Changing the world around or yourself. Have a wall and need a door? Alteration is the answer. While you cannot make something out of nothing, you can make something into nothing.

Illusion

Holding the ability to conceal what one is and fake it till you make it. The ability to cast illusions to create shadows of oneself to aid in running or battle even if they are just tricks of the mind.

Alchemy/Herbalism

Able to brew up potions, salves, sweets, and a manner of other things to enhance, heal, help, or even harm others. Deeply rooted in nature and often a skill of it's own merit, Alchemy or sometimes called Herbalism, is an art just like magic.

Enchantment

Turning the mundane into the magical, that is the art of Enchantment. Though there are tales of powerful Enchanters making constructs such as golems, but those seem to be rare and far and few in-between. While you may have no knack for magic all basic enchantment requires is an understanding of magic to be able to do such.
Humans: While magical ability is rare, there are still those who learn how to handle some mystical art.
Elves: The vast majority of Elves are born with magical ability.
Changlings: No Changling born is without magical ability.
Demi-Angel: No Demi-Angel born is without magical ability.
Demi-Demon: No Demi-Demon born is without magical ability.
Dwarf: Very low population of Dwarves are born with magical ability.
Fairy: No Fairy born is without magical ability.
Orc: The number of Orc magic users is low enough most don't even know they can.
Goblin: The number of Goblin magic users is low enough most don't even know they can.
Troll: The number of Troll magic users is low enough most don't even know they can.

Briar Witch: Generally someone who is more spiritually in tune with the earth and protecting the earth as a whole over just the Gauntlet. Often focusing on nature-based magics and arts.
