The War of Vallenis

Military action

3172-3191

Looking back at the history of Virthys, the War of Vallenis is the one event to which the entire apocalypse can be traced back. A so-called holy war that started with an attack on Vallenis, the capital of Lervias, and ended with a dimensional tear, creating a direct link between the divine realms and the world of mortals.

In the third millenium of the Age of Spirits, almost the entire continent of Rhavun was governed by theocracies. Other continents had a lesser religious influence, but it was still present at many places. As conflicted as the gods were, as opposed were the nations that revered them. In the year 3172, a continent-spanning war erupted in Rhavun.   After almost twenty years of bloodshed and world-bending magic, the battle between two mighty divine servants, an archangel and an archdemon, resulted in a dimensional implosion. It was like an earthquake in the very fabric of reality, and it wiped out half the population of Rhavun.   It also ripped apart a piece of Virthys' sky, creating a dimensional tear that opened up into the realms of the afterlife. The shock of these events ended the war, and just a few days later, a peace treaty was signed. At that moment, most people honestly believed this peace would be kept.
