General Summary

Aloe and York explore the Village of Barovia.

York climbed up the side of Death House ; Aloe took the stairs. From the third story balcony, they surveyed the village, seeing several points of interest. York did an impressive backflip off the balcony but slightly injured his feet in the process; Aloe took the stairs.
Thereafter, they set out to explore the village. On their way toward the town square, they witnessed an old woman selling pies. In the town square, they found the Blood of the Vine Tavern and Bildrath's Mercantile . Aloe and York decided to investigate the tavern.

Aloe and York converse with Ismark the Lesser.

Upon entering the tavern, Aloe and York find it mostly deserted. Aside from a meager handful of dour patrons, the Blood of the Vine Tavern is occupied by Arik the Barkeep, three Vistani sisters, and a well-dressed young man. The young man, seated by himself at a corner table, invited Aloe and York to join him, ordered a round of drinks, and introduced himself as Ismark Kolyanovich. Ismark told them about the events of the last several weeks (See: Quest: A Brother's Love), and asked for their aid in protecting his adopted sister, Ireena Kolyana.
After hearing his tale, Aloe and York conferred with each other on the possible nature of the assault against the Burgomaster's Mansion, and York, thanks to his experience with dark creatures, determined Vampires to be the most likely culprit. Upon realizing he would again soon be facing off against vampires, York experienced a brief trauma induced panic attack. Aloe attempted to help with a quick casting of Druidcraft and managed to sprout a small sunflower from betwixt the floorboards, calming him. York's episode did not do much to instill confidence in Ismark, but they assured him that they were up to the task and that the others in their party would be glad to assist.
The group noticed thereafter that they were being observed by the three Vistani sisters from across the tavern. Ismark cautioned Aloe and York to be careful, as The Devil Strahd has eyes and ears everywhere. The sisters were whispering quietly to each other, and soon one of them stood up and walked to the door behind the bar, and into a back room, closing the door behind her.
York decided he needed to investigate, so he asked Aloe to distract the other two sisters while he tried to sneak into the back room. Aloe agreed, so she jumped up from the table, yelled "YEE-HAW!," and focused all of her will into another casting of Druidcraft. Meanwhile, York made for the door. However, still getting used to her newfound abilities, all Aloe was able to summon up, was a single twig from the surface of the table. The Vistani, more alerted than distracted, noticed York heading toward the door, and one of them got up to go guard the door.
Unsuccessful, and perhaps a bit embarrassed, Aloe and York headed back to the house, promising to meet Ismark back at his home later that day.
