Gruumsh

(GROOM-SH)

Gruumsh, the One-Eyed God, is a vengeful deity and one of The Outsider Deities. He embodies rage, strength, and the drive for conquest. During the God War, Gruumsh refused to join either side, focusing instead on his own ambitions. Gruumsh despises the civilized races and demands that his followers claim their dominance over the world through force and bloodshed. Orcs believe that those who fight gloriously in battle will join Gruumsh in the afterlife on the plane of Acheron, where they continue to wage war alongside their god.

Legends

The legend of Gruumsh speaks of how he was tricked out of claiming lands for his people by The Prime Pantheon. Enraged by this betrayal, Gruumsh swore vengeance against the gods who denied him and his orcish followers. During the God War, he confronted Mearea, the goddess of war, on the battlefield. The two clashed in a fierce and brutal combat, where Mearea struck a powerful blow, piercing Gruumsh's eye.   Despite his grievous injury, Gruumsh’s fury only intensified. The loss of his eye became a symbol of his undying wrath and hatred for the Prime Pantheon. From that day forward, Gruumsh vowed to lead his followers in an unending struggle to reclaim what was stolen. Every orcish raid and act of conquest is seen as fulfilling Gruumsh's vow for revenge, an echo of his legendary battle and relentless spirit.
