Ek'harj (Ek-harj)
The Ek'harj was a vast and powerful mageocracy that spread across most of Ghrebam and ruled with terror and cruelty. The mage rulers pushed the limits of magic in search of more and more power. Eventually they ended up corrupting their own minds and grew as mad as they were powerful. They brought down misery and destruction across the whole continent. Only the enclave of Endred was able to stand up against their onslaught. The empire eventually fell when Renon The Pacifist sundered the Arcane Weave and cut the mages off from their ability to harness magic power.
The mages developed and mastered now-lost forms of magic that were considered even at the time unethical and dangerous. These included Blood Magic, Shadow Magic, and Pain Magic.

Infrastructure
The mages of Ek'harj's greatest public work was reversing the flow of the Sujeze River, which still continues in the same northwestern direction to this day.
