Morgan Blackhand

The mercenary famous for emphasising skill over cyberware started his career as a cyber-soldier, back when any cybernetics at all was a novelty. He fought in the Second Central American Conflict and ended up leading several successful missions. The first time, he was only 18 and had to take charge after his commanding officer had a cyberpsychotic break. He lost his arm a couple of years later, in 2009, and had it replaced by a cyberarm made from blackened steel, giving him his moniker.

After the war, Morgan was recruited by Militech as a mercenary. Life as a merc fit both his skillset and his approach to life, and the role would come to define the rest of his legacy. The name Morgan Blackhand became synonymous with the role of a Solo — combat experts with skills enough to not need a larger unit and who weren't part of any army. He literally wrote the book on the matter. Twice. Not that he always worked alone. Quite the opposite. Morgan gathered a small group of experienced operatives around him.

When the Fourth Corporate War broke out, mercenaries across the world had as much work as they could possibly take on. Morgan was frequently hired by Militech to handle operations that were extra sensitive or difficult. This is also why Blackhand ended up in charge of the teams that attacked Night City Arasaka Tower in August 2023. The attack that included a nuke and led to the Night City Holocaust. Morgan Blackhand himself was last seen fighting Adam Smasher before the bomb detonated. Smasher, obviously, survived and has been repaired, but no one seems to even have found Blackhand's body.
