Order of the Next Empire

The Order of the Next Empire is a substantial group of people that believe the grand vision of the Alvar was aborted on account of the ancient revolts. They maintain that if their peoples fulfilled their roles as the Alvar intended, that Maughtykus could have been a utopian world. It is well documented that each of the sapient races the Alvar placed in the world had specific tasks they were well suited for. Detractors accuse members of the Order of the Next Empire as being little more than “idealists peering at history through a rose-tinted window.” The council of intellectuals at the head of the Order of the Next Empire does nothing to counter these accusations. Much to the chagrin of many of its members, it routinely allows leaks of inside information which keeps the Order from being taken seriously by most. There are those that are very concerned about the hidden agenda that the Order must have. This is simply not the case. The Order simply wishes to place themselves and the rest of the races back in service to the Alvar, to resume what they believe must be their (the Alvar’s) Grand Plan. To that end, members of the Order work behind the scenes. The head designs and continually refines a centuries-long plan to bring all the sapient races back under the yoke of the Alvar. Part of that plan contains a contingency. Should the remaining Alvar die out before the plan is fully realized, or should the Alvar refuse, there is a second stage to the Order’s great plan. This is the heads of the Order will become the leaders of the governing council and act as they believe the Alvar would. Unfortunately, none other than the Alvar have world-bending magic. Without that, it simply is not possible to bring about the Grand Plan of the Alvar. Major political figures have a great deal of mistrust for the Order, believing rightly that the Order has plans to undermine their authority and supplant them. Old grievances die hard, and for the Order’s plans to work, the aggrieved parties have to reconcile. This detail is what the Order spends most of its energy on.
