Valysera

Valysera was, during the War for the Light, the most powerful kingdom of Tembra. Ruled by King Yarmont Valysar from the capital of Valys, it projected massive trade power across Tembra. Due to its location, most Tembrayan trade routes passed through it to reach either side of the great mountains separating dwarves from men. The kingdom endured a long-lasting rivalry with the Kalyrian Triarchy, a country of similar power during the war.   During the years following Sanctuary but before Daybreak, Valysera was a kingdom, before transitioning into an empire following the chaos that shattered the world after the War for the Light. It expanded across a large portion of eastern Tembra, even reaching the Stretch of Onar. In the west, it continued to wrestle with the Triarchy for power, spreading far slower into the western regions of the continent.   During the 3rd century EL, the face of Valysera changed once again. Poor economic decisions and damaging political crises ranging from hedonistic emperors to assassinations of political rivals drove the reputation of the office of emperor into the ground. By the 230s, popular opinion amongst was firmly against the ruling class. Independence movements of conquered territories gained traction, and the first revolt emerged in 236. Acutania, Reysar, and Mernia declared independence on the 111th anniversary of their annexation into the empire in what became known as the Princes' Revolt. This was merely the start of a domino effect of catastrophe, resulting in the empire's dissolution in 348 EL and the creation of the Republic of Valysera.   The social unrest and upheaval that followed led to the violent removal of many powerful noble families in Valysera. Those that escaped the revolution fled, many to Eremere, where they assimilated with much of the nobility there in the Age of Migration.
