Captain Bartholomew Tope

Captain Tope was a Mernian sailor and merchant who originally trades various valuables between the coastal nations of western Tembra, including Eremere. After a successful career, he used his wealth to finance a series of ambitious expeditions and feats, many of which are of dubious validity. He did, however, verifiably sail from Eremere to Seermar, and was the first recorded person to do so.
Following these exploits, Captain Tope achieved fame in certain circles but lost most of his fortune. Soon, he was bankrupt and was forced to sell his ship, the Red Swan. By 25 ED, he was earning money by transporting people and cargo across the Onar Stretch.
