About
Hi!
Big Map for Big Bugs is created by me: Triceratops D. Zone.
Why?
In September 2025, I said the words, "What do you mean I 100%'d Hollow Knight: Silksong, the largest video game ever made, which only released 2 weeks ago??!! I want more!" People have been saying these exact words for dozens if not hundreds of years.
I had only 2 options: memorize the 57 Precepts, or create a grand map for only the most corpulent of bugs. After reaching Precept 46 (and after screaming, barfing, crying), I took out my quill and got to work.
Scope
Big Map for Big Bugs (BMFBB) has 2 extremely enforced rules:
- Adjacent areas must have thematic links: Both HK games have these unmarked "mini biomes" like Greenpath/Queen's Gardens, or the Bilelands. If they touch, they must make sense side-by-side.
- Areas must reference specific content from the games: Items, enemies, dialogue, cut content, even that one-off Quirrel comic... all fair game. Nothing is made up whole cloth, everything comes from official content. Area names in particular must be anchored in the games.
World Meta may have some more context, if I've finished it by the time you're reading this.
Acknowledgments
Thanks to several folks on the Hollow Knight Worldbuilding Discord for batting around ideas and brainstorming with me. Their contributions have been credited on individual articles.
A huge, massive shoutout to the incredible editors at HollowKnight.wiki. Nearly every screenshot here comes from HK Wiki, and so much of the lore is derived from their hard work.
Thanks to Team Cherry for making Hollow Knight and Silksong, my favorite games of all time. I have learned and grown from your work so much. The greatest art leaves its fingerprint on your soul, and I'm sure my soul is riddled with Ari's and William's fingerprints.
Status
Current version: v5, Public Release. 12 Jan 2026.
- Big Map for Big Bugs has now been migrated to World Anvil.
- Steelrein lore has been added
As of 08 Jan 2026, BMFBB ("bhmfffbuhbuh") is incomplete. Remaining on the roadmap is Godtomb lore and Act 9, which will be released in 3 parts.
What Else Do You Do?
Nothing I can show off right now! But that'll hopefully change soon.
I am planning more maps! There's an original story / setting I really want to explore using this brand new, non-linear, interactive medium. I truly believe the future of storytelling is the humble "webpage."
I'm also currently working on a short TTRPG campaign called "Bad Vibes at Juicy Cactus." I created a card-based system for it. I think it's neat, but not ready to share yet. Hopefully soon!
Let's Be Friends!
Every time someone comments on my map, I get a little hit of dopamine. My doctor says if this keeps happening, I'll be dangerously close to a medical condition called "happy."
Anyway, here's the socials:
- Email: triceratopstime [at] gmail dot com.
- Discord: Not my server but I'm very active here. The fastest way to reach me, unless I'm currently swamped by messages.
- Bluesky: Mostly my personal account but checked daily.
- Reddit: Checked 2 or 3 times a month.
- Facebook: Don't like it.
- Instagram: Never used it.
- Twitter: Absolutely not.
- Youtube/Tiktok/any video platform: Too much work. I don't really care about "building a brand," I care about "hanging out online."
- Ko-Fi: If you like my work and want to throw a few Geo my way. I have a day job so no pressure. ILY
- World Anvil: I'm very new to World Anvil (joining specifically for this project). If you would like to leave comments here as I get to know the platform, go for it!
