Applying Boons

Area-effect boons (other than Barrier) are not possible; you must use multi-targeting instead. Using a multi-target boon with any level of Disadvantage carries risk, as the backlash from failure can cause Fatigue if you do it too often. Each character can fail two times on such castings per day without incident, but every failure afterwards causes 1 level of Fatigue.

Ritual castings are possible, allowing you to negate 1 point of Disadvantage with a minute-long ritual; if you have no Disadvantage when attempting this ritual, it is considered an auto-success. You can almost always negate another 1 (or more) point of Disadvantage with an application of Bolster. Even without taking any feats, it is possible (with time to prepare) for someone to easily put a Boon on two targets. With the right feats, or a high level application of Bolster, that number can go up significantly.

Buffs can be maintained for only so long before you begin to tire. If you maintain a Boon for more than 1 hour, and for every full hour after that point, you take 1 level of Fatigue. You can reset this time limit by resting quietly for 15 minutes.

Buffs generally require line-of-effect to be applied, and you must have line-of-effect to the target at least once every 1 (PL1) / 3 (PL2) / 6 (PL3) / 10 (PL4) / 15 (PL5) / 21 (PL6) / 28 (PL7) / 36 (PL8) / 45 (PL9) / 55 (PL10) minutes in order to maintain them.

Boons that do not require concentration to maintain (like Sustenance) are not affected by any of these restrictions.
