Tyren Mortrex-Valdain
Lord Tyren Mortrex-Valdain
“Born on velvet, rides like he owns the world, and talks like the rest of us are just furniture.” – Sorek RedmarchHouse: Mortrex-Valdain (junior branch of the ruling family of County Mallov) Age: 24 Status: Unmarried, freshly returned from a stint in the capital Title: Lord Tyren Mortrex-Valdain, noble of County Mallov Reputation: Vain, overconfident, and constantly looking to impress—loudly Overview: Lord Tyren Mortrex-Valdain is the perfect storm of youth, status, and self-importance. A cousin of Count Mallov and scion of a cadet branch of House Mortrex, Tyren walks into every room as if it’s his personal stage and speaks as though the gods are waiting to hear his opinion. He’s handsome in a polished, irritating sort of way and always dresses half a degree more flamboyantly than the occasion requires. Recently returned from “spending time in the capital,” Tyren considers himself a man of culture, politics, fashion, and swordsmanship—though in truth, most of his accomplishments are exaggerated or borrowed.
“I was trained at the Academy of Sword and Seal, you know. No need to look surprised.” – Lord Tyren, lyingAt any social event, Tyren may try to draw attention to himself with over-loud compliments, performative toasts, awkward flirtation, or even a drunken request to spar “just for sport.” Personality Notes:
- Thinks he’s clever and dangerous
- Actually mediocre in most things, except arrogance
- Will absolutely double down if he feels humiliated
- The kind of noble who makes enemies and doesn’t notice until they stab him
- Excellent for party tension, unwanted flirting, or baiting PCs into duels
- Could be used as an unwitting pawn in larger schemes (Myra Durathen, Galibano interests, etc.)
- A perfect candidate to get humiliated, blackmailed, or played as comic relief—or become a future thorn if he survives
“I’d have your respect if I dueled in earnest, but I find that rather messy. Besides, blood doesn’t flatter my complexion.” – Lord Tyren Mortrex-Valdain
