The Candle's Flame
The Candle’s Flame
(Translated from Elvish)
Oh, how sweet the nectar tastes,
The kiss of spring’s first bloom,
Your touch, a song that lingers soft,
Dispels my heart’s cold gloom.
Your love, it burns, a fervent fire,
A beacon through the night,
But I, a keeper of such flames,
Know well their fleeting light.
For brighter burns the candle’s flame
When wax and wick conspire,
Yet swifter too, the shadows creep,
To snuff its heart’s desire.
I dread the hour this light will fade,
When time must claim its due,
A mortal’s span, a fragile thread,
Too short for love so true.
Yet still, I drink this fragile bliss,
And dream of endless years,
Though I may weave my joy with smiles,
The thread is laced with tears.
Oh, sweet the love, and bright the flame,
Though fleeting it may be,
I’ll hold it close, this treasured fire,
And let it burn through me.
