Sotillion

Sotillion, the Summer Queen

"Bask in the sun, savor the ease of warm days, and let the world turn as it will. Those who rush find only worry; those who enjoy life find its true riches."

Overview

Sotillion is the Oeridian goddess of Summer, Ease, Comfort, and Wealth. She represents the height of prosperity, the warmth of the sun at its peak, and the indulgences that come with success. Her worshipers seek the pleasures of life, understanding that rest is as important as work and that comfort is the reward of toil.
Where her sister **Atroa** is the youthful vigor of spring, and **Wenta** is the harvest's mirth, Sotillion is the golden moment in between—the carefree days of midsummer, the leisure earned from plenty, and the security found in wealth and status. To honor her is to enjoy the finer things in life.

Appearance

Sotillion is depicted as a **radiantly beautiful woman with sun-kissed skin and flowing golden hair**, wearing **robes of silk in shades of orange, gold, and deep crimson**—the colors of a summer sunset. She often reclines on **a couch of clouds**, a **chalice of cool wine** in one hand, and **a golden fan** in the other.
Though known for her love of ease, her gaze holds a knowing sharpness—she is no idle fool, but one who understands that power and influence can be wielded as easily as a well-placed word or a well-timed smile.

Dogma & Worship

Sotillion teaches that pleasure is not to be denied but embraced, that comfort and security are the true marks of success, and that one should enjoy life’s luxuries while they can.
  Beliefs of Sotillion’s Faithful:
    • To deny comfort is to deny life itself.
    • Wealth and ease are meant to be shared—generosity brings more fortune.
    • One must know when to act and when to simply enjoy the moment.
    • The world turns on gold and favor; wisdom lies in knowing how to wield both.

Her followers include wealthy merchants, nobility, and those who live in luxury, as well as **travelers seeking good weather** and **farmers praying for a mild summer**. Her temples are lavish, often built with **cool stone courtyards, flowing fountains, and shaded gardens** where worshipers gather to offer thanks and indulge in feasts.

Symbols & Holy Items

    • Holy Symbol: A golden fan or a radiant sunburst.
    • Sacred Animals: Peacocks, panthers, and doves—creatures of beauty and grace.
    • Favored Weapon: A **jeweled dagger**—a symbol of both refinement and hidden danger.
    • Blessed Relic: The Silken Mantle, a legendary robe said to keep the wearer comfortable in any climate.

Relations with Other Deities

As one of the **Five Oeridian Wind Gods**, Sotillion holds dominion over the height of the year. She is closely associated with her sisters **Atroa and Wenta**, though her relationship with them varies.
She and **Wenta** are particularly close—Wenta brings the harvest and mirth, and Sotillion ensures there is time to enjoy them. However, she finds Atroa’s boundless energy tiring, seeing the goddess of Spring as too eager to move forward without savoring the present.
Sotillion has little patience for **Telchur, god of Winter**, as his harshness and austerity offend her love of ease. **Velnius, the god of the skies**, is her favored brother, for he ensures fair weather and pleasant breezes for her comfort.

Legends & Myths

"The sun shone brighter when she laughed, and the world sighed with contentment."

The Gift of Gold A famous tale tells of how **Sotillion first gifted wealth to mortals**. According to legend, she saw a humble farmer toiling endlessly in the summer heat, never stopping to enjoy the beauty of the world around him. Taking pity, she poured golden sunlight onto the land, and when he dug into the earth, he found **coins of gold hidden beneath his fields**. From that day forward, wealth was seen as a divine blessing, and the wise learned to savor both work and reward.
The Banquet of the Gods Another story speaks of **a great feast hosted by Sotillion**, where she invited all deities of the pantheon. Each guest was meant to bring a gift, but **Telchur arrived empty-handed and in his full winter garb**, sneering at the luxury before him. Insulted, Sotillion forbade him from speaking or eating at her table. Enraged, he swore that winter would one day **steal summer’s joy**, bringing hardship in its place. And thus, winter storms became fiercer, and summer was no longer endless.

Final Thoughts

Sotillion’s presence is found in the cool shade of a summer tree, the ease of a lazy afternoon, and the wealth of a successful trade. She is **the goddess of leisure, luxury, and life enjoyed to the fullest**. To honor her is to understand that **comfort is not weakness, but the reward of wisdom and patience**.
