Alden Frostwind
Sir Alden Frostwind
“Honor’s a fine thing… until it gets tangled in court games and anonymous vegetable deliveries.” – Sorek Redmarch
Title: Knight Errant Former Allegiance: House Cron of Lynwenden Current Status: Oath-free, seeking service under Sir Orin Kharne Age: 27 Known For: The infamous event now jokingly referred to as “The Squash and Spur Affair”
Overview: Sir Alden Frostwind is a sincere and honorable knight whose life was upended by one of the more bizarre court escapades in recent memory. Earnest, loyal, and somewhat romantic, Alden was once a vassal of **Baron Lynwenden Cron**, a rigid and prideful noble who forbade his knights from marrying without permission.
When Alden fell in love with a low-born girl, he faced an impossible choice between love and duty—until a strange twist of fate intervened, courtesy of **Aylassa** and a chaotic scheme that has since passed into legend.
The Squash and Spur Affair: Though Alden himself remains largely unaware of the full details, the court continues to whisper about the event that led to his sudden liberation:
- **Aylassa**, tasked with protecting the honor of Alden’s beloved, launched a ridiculous but effective scheme involving two prostitutes posing as abused servants
- She lured **Sir Orin Kharne** into the matter, playing on his instinctive chivalry
- Orin stormed the baron’s estate, terrified the household, accidentally killed several guards, and famously roared about produce logistics: “WHO ORDERS THE SQUASH?!”
- The baron’s champion, a mercenary named **Morg**, was brutally defeated, and the baron, humiliated, was forced to release Sir Alden from his oath
Alden, unaware of the backstage manipulation, fled the estate in gratitude, assuming Orin had acted on principle. He has no knowledge of the ruse—or the ongoing joke surrounding it.
Current Situation: Sir Alden now wanders the frontier as a free knight, still clinging to his ideals. He plans to seek out **Sir Orin during Needfest**, humbly requesting to enter his service in earnest. He wishes to repay what he sees as a great debt, and to prove his worth now that he rides under no banner.
Personality: Noble-hearted, quietly determined, and wholly sincere. Alden believes in chivalry, love, and loyalty. He carries no cynicism—only a mild bewilderment at the politics of court and a deep desire to serve something greater than himself.
Appearance: Tall and fair, with pale blue eyes and wind-touched silver-blond hair. His armor bears no sigil, and his demeanor reflects his quiet humility. He wears a small token from his beloved—a woven bracelet—hidden beneath his bracer.
Court Gossip and Running Jokes:
- **Aylassa** continues to send **anonymous baskets of squash** to Orin’s household, often with cryptic notes or perfectly innocent messages
- **Nyssa and Brielle**, the prostitutes from the original ruse, now work as “respectable servants” in Orin and Braga’s household thanks to glowing (forged) recommendations
- **Braga remains completely unaware** of the connection—much to Aylassa’s delight
- Sir Alden, oblivious to all of it, is still viewed by some as a noble romantic—and by others as a lucky fool
DM Notes:
- Alden genuinely believes Orin freed him through knightly virtue and will be deeply loyal if accepted into his service
- He may serve as a moral compass among Orin’s household knights, or a tragic figure if exposed to the truth of his “rescue”
- Aylassa’s ongoing prank can escalate comically or dramatically if the PCs investigate the squash deliveries
- If Alden discovers the truth, it could lead to anything from heartbroken confusion to character growth
