Book of Letters Volume 1 Item in Beyond Greater Anghor - A Middle Earth Adventure | World Anvil

Book of Letters Volume 1

Item Description:

An old book with a topographical map of Anghor, that does not include any towns or distinct settlements. It is written in a strange archaic language, similar to an Old English version of Anghor. Its meanings are not discernable without help from an expert of the Age. There are some pictures of 5 specific types of cloaks. After careful study, the title was understood. The book is delicate and very old. Turned pages crack with the slightest bend or fold. Leafing through reveals faded words and crumbling parchment. However, with some examination certain passages might be able to be translated.

Here tells the story of the original peoples of Anghor, the Ænthror, settled south of the Grey Mountains from time immemorial. The evil child of Morgoth attacked the southern lands in the second age and warred for a hundred years. The Éothéod, (T.A. 1856 to 2510) ancient people of the Kingdom of the Rhovanion fled north, through Greenwood the Great. Trapped between a people they did not know and an unrelenting enemy, they decided on battle, and fought a bloody tumult where man fought man for land neither found hospitable. The Ænthror were defeated, and their king, Beornoth, led his people over through the cold Grey Mountains and into the Fodorwaith. It was here, upon the barren, frozen plains they discovered my ancient people, the Heorrenda, who worshiped the wasteland dragons as their Gods. Five clans were the number, each worshipping their own drake.   Upon finding our ancestors, the Ænthror fought, defeated, and subjugated each clan, channeling the wicked tendrils of the very evil that had cast them from their own lands. For the Heorrenda, their division was their ruin, and without unity, they were unable to stop Beornoth’s army.
Upon their last tower, in the battle of their last clan, the last king of the Heorrenda, Stojanow the Mighty, fought and fell in his last stand against the Ænthror.
