Balcoth Character in Beyond Greater Anghor - A Middle Earth Adventure | World Anvil

Balcoth

Background

At some point during the Dark Years, Sauron gave one of the Rings of Power to Khamûl, an Easterling lord with which he gained power and prestige among his people, becoming a mighty lord and sorcerer, until he became a wraith. Later, The Balchoth, a fierce race of Easterlings southeast of Mirkwood, retook Dul Guldur. Though that army was defeated, Balcoth believes he is the resurrected leader of this tribe.

Personality

It is known that he is driven, cruel, but very intelligent. Though his motives remain a mystery, there are whispers he has raised an army, and is heading North. Though still uncertain, there is strong suspicion his target is Summershaw, and later, perhaps, Greater Anghor and Lady Elanna, though for what ends is still a mystery.

Allies & Associates

Balcoth has aligned himself with Talwart and The Circle of Dragons cult. There is little doubt this is an uneasy alliance but its true purpose is still not understood. Beyond that, there is reason to believe Balcoth and the minions in Mount Gundabad are attempting some type of pincer move on the Kingdom of Anghor. A scrap of map obtained from The Circle of Dragon’s campsite has revealed part of this secret plan.
