Venxaroncas (Ven-scha-ron-cas)

Venxaroncas was a bronze Greatwyrm who ruled over his realm during the Age of Magic.
The Vanjarón Family traces their ancestry back to this dragon and their state Moneda roughly corresponds to the Greatwyrm's ancient realm.

When Venxaroncas came to the continent from across the sea, he was already a formidable foe and few managed to stand in his way for long as he conquered what was to be his realm. Though Venxaroncas never told of the first eight centuries of his life, on this new continent he quickly made a name for himself, gaining followers and ending enemies.
His rule was to last for more than six centuries, his realm spreading as the bronze dragon grew into a fearsome Greatwyrm, his lightning breath levelling cities, thundering through entire armies. His rule was just and his justice swift, whether in punishing a criminal or rewarding an ally.

Venxaroncas' death

As the olden magic vanished from the world, Venxaroncas felt his ancient body weakening in kind. He gathered those who had most faithfully served him and offered them to breathe his powers into their bodies with his dying breath. Though he also warned them that those not worthy would perish at the force of his breath.
From the gift he had given, from the lightning storm he had unleashed, only three rose again. Their names were Baréthar, Eleina, and Valoslae. An elven man, a human woman, and Venxaroncas’ own daughter, a young bronze dragon. For many years, those three ruled side aside, strengthening Moneda against her foes on the outside, raising armies against them and honing their new, draconic powers.
But even with those draconic powers, Eleina was growing older far before the other two. She watched her half-elven children grow older as well and knew that they would die long before Baréthar and Valoslae. And most of all she watched Valoslae grow into a fierce dragon who did not value humans as her equal, less so those without her father’s powers. Only Baréthar seemed to have her ear still.
With rightful worry, envy also grew in her heart, until one day, Eleina took up her sword and confronted the mighty dragon she had once called her friend. Their fight was long and gruesome, until Eleina let Valoslae land a fatal blow on her, so she could in turn thrust her sword into the dragon’s heart.
As Valoslae lay dying, Eleina stood over her, leaning on her sword as blood streamed from her wounds. “The age of beasts is over.” Then she collapsed besides the dragon.

Baréthar, who could not endure the grief and betrayal, left Moneda, never to return. His and Eleina’s children took over their parents’ throne, establishing the Vanjarón dynasty.
