The Better Tomorrow Foundation

One of the largest and probably most successful of the Humanist groups. The BTF maintains a large holding in the northern part of Michigan’s Lower Peninsula. Founded by Dr. Elizabeth Harding in 86 PE, this group tries to balance Humanism (the belief that humanity is a distinct race and culture to be preserved and left untainted by the changes wrought to the Earth) with practicality. They maintain a strict exclusionary policy towards The Changed and Demons, while making some allowances for elements of the new world that had prior human examples, even if some are far-fetched. For example, those otherwise “normal” humans that exhibit minor psychic abilities, especially “benign” abilities such as ESP, are considered to be human. Likewise minor magical talent, mostly in terms of exorcism or Artificer abilities, is also accepted granted there are no other deviations from human norm. Harding pointed to examples such as Edward Cayce, Voodoo priestesses, and other documented instances of supposed magical or psychic activities found in books she recovered. This has allowed the BTF to prosper where other Humanist groups have fallen victim to the realities of Earth That Is. The BTF also does not antagonize groups and communities beyond their borders. They seem content now to maintain their territory and leave the rest of the world to their own devices.
