Tactics

The auxiliaries specialise mostly in counter insurgency and intelligence and have adopted very brutal tactics as a result, ranging from house raids, strike breaking and insurgent hunting to the use of public reprisals and torture. They like to be a strong presence wherever they are posted, paroling in force regularly and giving very little respite. They use attrition based tactics very often putting harsh embargoes on local trade to stop towns from sending food to each other and have even been accused of burning crops and tainting water supplies as a means of starving out their enemies. They have no objections to fighting terror with terror and are more than willing to commit murder, torture, pillage, rape and a verity of other crimes against civilian populations they suspect of being affiliated with the enemy wither this is in fact the case of otherwise. They also employ a very effective spy network in the places they are sent.

Training

They prefer to have recruits with military experience who are already conditioned to practice magic however they are able to provide training to greenhorns. They want to be well oiled in combating asymmetrical warfare and security operations. Such classes include bomb disposal, breech and clear, jungle fighting, sniping, counter magical threats training interrogation and various other fields. They hire instructors from nations with frequently active millilitres such as Lythodesia, Floresienta, Belldore and others. The auxiliaries are incredibly well trained and constantly ready for combat.

Being operators in the Blackwood group they can call on assistance from any other Blackwood unit. they have full backing from Blackwood artilliary and areal units and can even call upon naval support if the situation calls for it.

Recruitment

The first group of Auxiliaries were colonial army and police veterans. They wanted people who were already used to fighting dirty against the people they had conquered across the empire. This is the main recruiting ground for the division but it is bulked up by recruiting from colonial penitentiaries, specific. They look for murderers, thieves and people with regular assault charges. Their third largest talent pool is recruiting recently freed slaves who served in the various servile armies of Astasha. Now paying them a wage that can help them keep up the more comfortable state of living they were given for fighting for their former masters. They pose this as wanting to give these people a second chance at a good life but the reality is they want tough men and women who won't shy away from committing brutal acts of violence.

History

The cloud folk uprising The division managed to first showcase their might in their inaugural year when they crushed the Cloud folk uprising. They stopped their warriors from doing any significant damage to Astasian farms in the Vespra region and perused the rebels into their homeland of the Mestolai forest. The enacted a terrible revenge on the cloud folk. The blackwood company was given shares of the local cattle ranches and made near a fortune selling cloud folk captives into slavery.
The second Astaso-Byronese war Auxiliaries are deployed to combat Byronese partisans in occupied territories. One of their favoured punishments is crop burning. They withdraw along with the Royal army.
Hunting down abolitionist groups The auxiliaries gained further praise by hunting down abolitionist factions trying to help slaves escape the union. They carefully take the escapees alive and infamously make them watch as they execute the abolitionists. Blackwood is paid bounties for recovered slaves
Ending Kyushibi resistence Auxiliaries brutalise the Kyushibi people of Shibi-jiima, almost wiping them out as a culture. the Blackwood family is given planting privelages on Shibi-jiima
Helping to crush the Mara grey revolution They hunted down Mara Grey sympathisers in factories and members of their communities. They frequently took part in strike breaking often firing into unarmed crowds. They received certificates of merit.
Fighting the FRSF They have been fighting the revolutionary FRSF in Floresienta on behalf of it's Restorationist dictatorship for two decades until the FRSf took power in 1532. Blackwood were being paid in Gold and natural magic amplifiers.
Kainarese head hunters While fighting a revolutionary tribal coalition in the domain of Kainare they gain a reputation for taking the heads and hands of enemy fighters as trophies to prove they made a kill. They were paid per head and it is speculated they murdered random civillians to gain bounties. Blackwood was paid in cotton and plantation shares.
Lythodesia The Auxiliaries take an active role in fighting anti-Separation and pro-independence rebels for the Lythodesian government. They also train Lythodesian security forces in counter insurgency tactics.
Other deployments They are deployed throughout the wider empire and other nations fighting insurgent groups.
