Flash Eye

Flash eye, or Gluix Crops in the native Terraie, is an inheritable condition that was common in the bloodline of Mamercus the Founder. It saw the early death of some members and saw the rise to power in others all because of the belief around flash eye.

Symptoms

Causes victim to be unable to handle bright or flashing light, causing them mental distress, seizures and occasionally hallucinations if they encounter them.

Treatment

No treatment has ever been found. Less exposure to light, including Beta Fauna, is recommended.

Prognosis

A fatal seizure could occur if the exposure to light is bad enough, but this is rare and the condition is more of an inconvenience.

Any and every Terraxian could gain this affliction.

History

Many in the House Primus are afflicted with this condition.

Cultural Reception

In older times, the condition was seen as a god given gift, lower class Terraxians believing that rulers with this affliction were given 'true sight', and saw visions of the future. However nowadays it is known that this is not true, even by the time of Terraxion I it was known to simply be an affliction.
