Dr. Rhinehardt was first encountered on
Moon base when the group awoke from organic pods. He acknowledged he was responsible for activating the dormant ancestral powers. His reasoning for the abrupt actions was in response to his agent
Mike the Bartender spotting someone who seemed to be working with the children focusing on them while they were at the
Desert Rose.
He explained during his investigation into
Slappers he was contacted by being from a being from somewhere else. The being warned the situation with the Slappers was result of beings labeled “as their children.” Dr Rhinehardt provided the group a suitcase of 4 control collars to help in the apprehension of the 4 children and a signal booster device to allow phone calls to him on the moon for Professor Short. Dr. Rhinehardt asked them to apprehend
"The Children" and bring them to the moon base so the parent would be able to pick them up. In return, he offered to modify or remove their special abilities. He said he would accept what punishment the group felt was appropriate, but without their powers "The Children" would likely overpower the group.
Later encounters revealed the holographic form he was interacting with was contact with
"The Parents" The relationship between them and Rhinehardt was revealed to not be as amicable as originally believed when "the parent" stated he would be punished for requiring to intervene in the matter more directly with the lightbringer. Rhinehardt himself has provided the group information on "the children", Lightbringers, the
orb and on the vials presented to him by
Erem Scathac. He continues to find a counter agent to slappers but explained the effects are currently temporary. He cautioned the black vial's effects being disastrous and would have to do further research to find any hope to counteract the effects. He has offered to assist Erem's associate be treated for her condition.
