Umbral Oyster
A pitch black oyster that can be found Lake Karparth that produces smoky black pearls.
The Umbral Oyster typically reaches maturity after three years. At this point they begin to produce pearls that begin as grey and opaque for the first few years. The pearls gradually shift to translucent black with swirling liquid smoke within four years.
The largest oyster ever discovered was 10 inches in diameter and weighed over 4lbs. When this colossal oyster was prized open it was discovered to contain three black pearls of 1 inch size each.
The meat of these oysters is sulphorus and rusty therefore it is rarely consumed.

Due to overfishing the Umbral Oyster was once considered to be endangered but through commercial farming the populations have recovered. Attempts to move living specimens to other water bodies have failed, with the animals dying within hours of release.
