Frostbane Revolt

In 1200 Frostbane's leaders recognised how sucessful the city had become with the limits put upon it by the Driston Empire and decided that the city would thrive as an idependant entity.
In an open letter to the newly crowned Empress Uzeneth Driston it was declared that Frostbane would forever be independant and never again beholden to the whims of a distant city, the people would live free under their own system of governence. Upon recieving the letter the Empress declared that the city be retaken by years end, dispaching armies from Qwesaar, Frenhold & Areguá to reclaim what was considered "The Jewel of Yillian"
There were few actual battles between the opposing forces due to Frostbane's remote location and stalwart defences.

The Conflict

Prelude

After the death of Empress Lillith Driston the Empire fell into a brief state of disarray, during this period Frostbane fell out of the watch of the Empire allowing the city to sample independance.

Deployment

On the 2nd of Tarksah the forces from Areguá & Frenhold joined the main force of Qwesaar and prepared to depart through the Darklight Tunnel to invade Frostbane. The rebellious city suspected this invasion and had sealed the tunnel ahead of time.
The Driston army consisted of 60,000 soldiers, 5000 war mages and a logistics train of an additonal 30,000, outnumbering the Frostbane foces three to one.

Battlefield

The main skirmishes were held across the barren slopes Yillan Ridge after the Darklight Tunnel was sealed. Frostbane forces employed hit and run tactics to drain the strength of the invading Dristoners as crossing the mountains even in summer was a difficult task. 
The largest singular conflict began on the 13th of Kythorn as the Driston army began their desperate seige of the city. Frostbane citizens lined the wall and mocked as the "southerners" shivered in the summer snows as they set up siege weapons. This pitiful attempt to take the city only lasted two months before the invaders were routed by a surprise attack by Frostbane forces on the morning of the 11th of Elasi.

Strength

Frostbane began the conflict with an offical army of only 15,000 trained soldiers and 750 war mages but by the end of the conflict this had swelled to 20,000 and 1000 respectivley.

The Driston Empire sent three armies to attack and retake the city totalling 60,000 soldiers and 5000 war mages along with support troops. This was around a third of the Empire's total strength at the time.

Casualties

During the beginning of the rebellion Frostbane was confident, having sealed the Darklight Tunnel to slow any major invasion from the Empire however they would begin to slowly have their forces depleated as the guerilla tactics they employed proved ineffective.

By the end of the conflict it had lost over half of its army to desertion, exposure to the harsh Yillan Ridge weather, guerilla tactics of Frostbane and a failed siege. This was a crushing blow the the Empire's status on the world stage.

Objectives

The initial goal was to secure Frostbane's freedom and independence from the Driston Empire but this quickly evovled into a chance for the city to prove its strength to the rest of Beru and cement its place as a free city and great power in the north.

The Empire's sole objective was to retake Frostbane decisively and swiftly.
