The beginning of the crusade and the events that transpired during the war.
As her distaste for fiends grew over the centuries, and as they continued to openly defy and mock her, Ensear engaged in an open war with the Nine Hells. Her first action was to create additional angels and weaponry, as well as accrue magical items that would help her to invade and push deeper into the hells. Subsequently, she created a transportation circle hundreds of feet wide, and channeled her energies into it, setting it ablaze. Using her divine relocation abilities, she brought herself and dozens of flights of angels into Avernus. While unaware of the invasion, Zariel, a fallen angel herself, quickly learned of the trespass and rallied her devils in defense. The ensuing battles were grueling. Where a war on the material plane could last for days, many of these clashes would go on for weeks as the angels were reborn again and again, and devils continued to arrive. Huge stores of energy were expended, with Ensear herself often taking to the front lines and wreaking havoc across Avernus. As the months and years dragged on, ensear and her angels slaughtered legions upon legions of devils, losing some of their own ranks in the process to dark magics. After six years, Ensear finally drew near Zariel's keep. With no other options available but to await her foe, zariel chose to instead meet the goddess in honorable combat. After shifting size, ensear stood toe-to-toe with the fallen one, and they engaged in a fight for control of the first layer. She defeated zariel, leaving her ousted, and took control of her keep. From here, she made preparations to invade the second layer, using her new position to subjugate the first layer and keep the devils in line, and bringing additional items to the keep. She used a similar ritual to then draw most of her flock and herself into the second layer: Fyen. Her campaign here started much the same, but with a different strategy befitting of the much more defensible second layer. Here, the devils were stronger, but more importantly, better armed. As she pushed further and further, she encountered more skilled and entrenched resistance, prompting her to be even more active in combat. While the fights were not as one-sided as on Avernus, they were far more testing.
