Personal Quests

These are adventure hooks that give players their own personal objectives. Players mus make one. Achieving this goal results in functional buffs to a character on top of providing the table with a personal narrative experience. Keep in mind characters do not need to tell any of the other characters this information.
When a character completes this quest they can choose one of the following:
  • Ability Score increases. One ability score of your choice rises by 2 and so does your maximum for that stat.
  • Free feat. You gain a bonus feat of your choice.

BEFORE READING FURTHER. Let it be known that this game will be different. You players will be the main creative force driving the story outside what ive written for World anvil and a starter adventure I WILL NOT BE MAKING ANY MORE ADVENTURES OR ANYTHING LIKE A CAMPAIGN ARC until the party chooses a facet of the world that they want to explore. The Section below this will go over a few Examples of a Personal Quest to show what level of scope they should be and then a guide to make your own. Their will also be some templates at the very bottom but this is allllll you if you use those its fine.    

Example Quests

Claim the Throne. Though my family has fallen on hard times, we were distantly related to the Royal House of renkailion who at the time led the unifyied forces against the Severance Curse. I have a legitimate claim at the central seat of power within the mainland. My personal quest is to search and find any documentation for suffiecient evidence to prove my inheritance.   A Score to Settle. I have traveled to Costa De Oro to kill a leader of a political faction, I seek revenge for a past wrong or i may covet their position and wish to replace them. Either way my personal quest is to kill them.   Personal Pilgrimage. As an acolyte of the faith, my personal quest is to visit several holy places over the world and perform sacred rites. Through these devoted acts i will understand my place in the celestial pecking order.   The Hidden Hand. I was sent by my homeland with a secret mission: to infiltrate a powerful faction or region and act as the eyes and ears of my people. While I hold the values and agenda of my homeland close to my heart, I must navigate the delicate balance of loyalty and deception. My quest is to gather critical intelligence, influence key events from the shadows, and ensure that my homeland’s interests are protected—without compromising my cover or losing sight of who I am    

Creating a your own Quest

Keep these following points in mind when making your quest. They are not hardset rules more of a guideline :)
  • The quest should require one or more locations within the world. A character shouldn't be able to comeple their personal quest too early
  • It should present some sort of complication (conflict or cooperation) with one of the cornerstones of the world, whether that’s nations, important figures, ancient civilizations, deities, the World Song, Psyche, or one of the different planes.
  • It should be Specific and achievable, and not related to character advancement (Like reach a certain level or killing x amount of things)
  • Be careful about using a "Ticking clock" for a personal quest. This can introduce a compelling complication, it would be better to focus on long term goals rather then EXTREMELY URGENT matters.
