The Dreadhorn
The Dreadhorn is a legendary beast of Belerion, feared for its immense size and bone-plate armour. Resembling a monstrous bull with a thick, muscular build, the Dreadhorns hide is fused with the skeletal remains of its past victims, forming impenetrable plates all over its body. Each plate is etched with depictions of the kill from which that plate was developed, honouring the victim and signifying the attributes with which their sacrifice has imbued the Dreadhorn, giving it an intimidating patchwork appearance that reflects a life of unending carnage.
This creature stalks the mist-covered moors and ancient battlegrounds, seeking out the wounded, the lost and the fearful. Its hooves hit the ground like thunder, and its gair is deceptively silent, moving with uncanny precision and agility for something so vast and bulky. Its breath is said to carry a chill, and where it walks, the grass withers and the earth cracks, as though even nature recoils from its ungodly presence.
The Dreadhorns' eyes are its most terrifying creature: glowing embers that emit a faint, pulsing light. Any unfortunate creature caught in its gaze becomes paralysed by on overwhelming sense of dread, their mind filled with haunting visions of darkness and death. The beasts feeds off fear, and with each encounter, it grows stronger, using its victims terror to fuel its ferocity.
Legends say the Dreadhorn was born from the fury of ancient wars, a monstrous relic cursed to roam forgotten battlefields. Others say it is the spirit of vengeance itself, bound to the bones of those who fought and perished while their blood was still hot with the lust of war. Few have seen the Dreadhorn and survived. Those who do often carry the mark of fear for life - an absence of joy or warmth - haunted by the memory of its dark, unyielding gaze.
