The Burrowbite Shark

The Burrowbite Shark is one of the most feared and bizarre predators in the oceans of Belerion, known for its terrifyingly unique adaption: parasitic organisms that act as its teeth. This formidable creature resembles an ordinary shark in silhouette, with a streamlined muscular body built for stealth and power. However, a closer look reveals rows of unsettling, hook-shaped teeth that differentiate it from all other known species.
The Burrowbite's parasitic teeth serve a deadly purpose. Unlike ordinary teeth, these sharp fangs detach from the shark's jaw during an attack, embedding themselves into the flesh of its victims. Once lodged inside, the teeth burrow deeper, carving through muscle and tissue to find a stable place to feed. The teeth then connect to the victim's bloodstream, drawing nutrients and feeding them back to the Burrowbite upon reattaching to its jaw. 
This horrifying process is both silent and efficient. Victims rarely realise the teeth are inside them until the gnawing pain begins, by which points escape is almost impossible. The shark can sense the nutrients absorbed by its dislocated teeth, allowing it to trach weakened prey for days, even weeks, as the parasitic fangs continue to sap the life from their host. 
The Burrowbite Shark is often the subject of fishermen's tales, its name whispered in dread among sailors and coastal communities. Known for its relentless hunting style, the shark has earned a reputation as a "ghost predator" - a creature that can harm and drain its prey from afar. Despite its terrifying nature, the Burrowbite is a rare and elusive species, lurking in the shadowy depths, where only the bravest or most unfortunate ever encounter it. Locals speak of the Burrowbite Shark with a mixture of awe and horror, often leaving small offerings near the shore to ward off encounters.
