Domhain Beinn

The pyramidal peak Domhain Beinn is setting of the greatest and most celebrated of the mighty dwarven fortresses in LairigMor; a mighty defensive curtain wall and two massive towers protect the entrance into the city within; several ballistae are mounted around the wall and constant patrols and lookouts are present. Whilst the defenses are impressive, visitors eyes are drawn and linger upon the gate guardian. For above the entrance, dominating the scenery for many kilometres, carved into the dark stone of the mountain the likeness of a mighty dwarven warrior, 30m high, standing astride the gate towers; heavily armoured wielding a notched battle-axe with runic symbols down the haft and across its broad head; intelligent piercing eyes peer out from within a helm with cheek plates and nose guard. The workmanship on such a large scale is exceptional and also nuanced, it is for no small reason that the artisans of Domain Beinn are lauded as the best on The Ribbon.
Many journeying here for the first time for the treasures available within, find themselves standing dumbstruck be the imposing majesty of the exterior.

Government

Domhain Beinn is ruled by an elected High Thain and council of twelve. Residents born within the confines of the fortress and those who have become citizens vote every ten years for thirteen members of the council, with the council members themselves proclaiming the High Thain. These are no ceremonial titles, the Thain and their council guide the laws and commerce of the fortress and hold the lives and well being of all residents in their care.

Infrastructure

The center of Domhain Beinn is a thriving cityscape more than a match for any above-ground rival, markets and guilds, governmental buildings and military barracks, fine jewelers and precision weaponsmiths, embassies and great temples. The pinnacle of dwarven crafts and wares are made and traded here, travelers come far and wide to buy and also to learn at the feet of masters.
Below the city is the true beating heart of Domhain Beinn lies, a bustling hive of industry, commerce and artisanry. The dwarves delight in creating, night and day pass here with unrelenting activity.

Assets

Whilst the fortress boasts to be the best in many ways it is truly exceptional and unique in two ways. It has long created the purest, most magnificent and resilient Mithril known on The Ribbon, which is craved the world round. The smiths, artisans and crafters take that mithril and create astonishing items of delicate jewelry, powerful weapons imbued with the strongest of martial runes and armour of the utmost beauty and defensively un-paralleled.

Dwarves are the predominant residents though most other species have their enclaves; overall the population ranks in the several 100,000s but is fluid with the many daily comings and goings of merchants, miners and travellers.
