Pirhoua - The Beast Mother (Pir-ou-a)

Allemance Field
Pirhoua bestowed Willfulness to the beasts of the world, granting them sentience and polymorphing them into the modern Beasts of the world. Due to this benevolent act, and her inherent good nature, she holds a position of paramount reverence among her peers.

Pirhoua and Evil

Pirhouans believe that to rid the world of evil, one must shine a light everywhere such that there is no place for evil to fester. They believe their lives are best spent building up those around them, for what good is a world without evil if there is no one you wish to share it with. Her Religion strives to embody the ideals of creation, beauty and progress. This does not mean that a follower must take a life of stict pacifism, quite the oposite. If someone is in danger then you should help them.

The Bethel

The other place to ask for assistance is The Bethel. The Bethel for many small comunities is the center of that town, the common oven always lit and cooking, the doors always open for shelter, and the tithes in the open for those that may need to borrow some gold. Populus cities may have a dozen or more Bethels available for each district or borough within. The Beast Mother dislikes shows of materialism, prefering instead to find her modest churches filled with the creations and hard works of her followers.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

Pirhoua's symbol is the Heartleaf, finding one in nature is rare but means her attention can often be felt in the surrounding area.

Tenets of Faith

Pihroua's charges are interperited differently from different lands.

Al'ar

An open-air lounge sits at the edge of a tiny dock village, a heartleaf painted on each outer wall. Four sailors and the bethelkeeper chatter and laugh while lounging on cushions around a table. In this bethel voyagers plan their routes by consulting weather divinations prepared by divine magic. The bethelkeeper eagerly compares sea charts with the sailors and points out new horizons to explore. In Al'ar Pirhoua is the goddess of Curiosity, Stewardship of Nature and Wandering.

The First Divine Charge: Curiosity

The Al'ari Pirhouan sees the open sea as s spiritual mandate. Spreading goodness to the entire world means one must visit the entire world. Al'ari Pirhouans usually know every nautical inch of their hometowns and the surounding waters. Other Al'ari interpret this charge from the perspective of how they treat others. A Pirhouan's exploration might be intently listening to a stranger's woes or asking proactive questions about a longely neighbor's passions. By 'Sailing a stranger's seas' they bolster and make their life brighter.

The Second Divine Charge: Safekeeping

The charge of safekeeping has shaped Al'ari society more than any other homeland's sect. To change the natural world is a prideful conceit. Felling a tree without replanting it is rejecting Pirhoua's vision for the world. This charge is one of the main reasons for the dock towns. Islanders can gather up an entire city and move it while elaving minimal scars on the land.

The Third Divine Charge: Piquancy

Fish is tasty, but spicy fish is even better. This simple truth encapsulates the charge of piquancy. Al'ari clerics are known to perform some drastic culinary experiments. Despite some questionable results, feline kitchen-piety has discovered what some consider Pirhoua's single greatest gift: chocolate. The charge of Piquancy motivates simplet experiments in pleasure as well- it's why many Al'ari can't seem to pick a spot to nap in.

Allemance

In Allemance Pirhoua is reguarded as the goddess of life, love and the harvest. Alley Clerics are the gentlest of any sect. They love to take playful advantage of their chaste, stuffy-clothed reputation other clerics have. They play pranks and love to laugh at shocked reactions to bawdy jokes or cheeky guestures. Alley Pirhouans believe that gratitude for the gift of willfullness is best paid by living a big, joyful and Colourful life.

The First Divine Charge: Family

Allemagnians grow their communities by rearing lots of kids, in fact much of Pirhouanism in the homeland is related to children. The Farmhouse of an Alley Pirhouan bursts with them, children who live there and those from anywhere within walking distance. The Bethels of Allemance often provide basic schooling, games and child care facilities.

The Second Divine Charge: Love

The Alley sect gives a simple command: "Express the love you feel." By demonstrating it, the Beast Mother's merciful nature shines through a person. The may express this love through familial bonds, romantic or sexual connections, or through charity towards a stranger. Other sects are sometimes surprised by how flirty and permissive Alley visitors are; this sometimes leads to friction between the groups. The more chaste Vinyotan bethelkeepers wonder how an Alley could keep focused on Pirhoua and three romantic partners at once, but the question only confuses the Allemagnian- doesn't one focus empower the other?

The Third Divine Charge: Indulgence

Alley Pirhouans teach folk to indulge in blessings and pleasures of life. Countryside towns throw raucous parties for every occasion, or even no occasion at all. Alley Pirhouans don't need the finest wine so long as they have enough for everyone. To the typical Alley, the most important thing is keeping the road easy and everyone smiling. If the field work takes an extra few hours but everyne gets to eat Cinnamon rolls while they're still warm... cinnamon rolls are the plan.

Oria

Every lodge house's bethel room is known by its forge. lit day in and day out to shape steel from ore deep within Pirhoua's earth. The Bethelkeeper instructs Youth in keeping these flames, demonstrating the virtues of craftsmanship. In Oria, Pirhoua is the goddess of Creation, Learning and the Forge. They take her command to build communities more literally than other sects. From childhood the oric are taught that a friend who can help put a roof over one's head is a precious friend indeed.

The First Divine Charge: Masterwork

Orians believe that mercy blossoms from the gift of a well-made tool. Forge fire represents Pirhoua's love and steel is the promise that it will remain steadfast. Hard work and cooperation shape divine grace into life-giving protection. If an Oric Pirhouan sees a ill-equiped friend suffering they wont rest untill the matter is resolved. A unique flash of pride and divine grattitude fillss an Oric Pirhouan delver's eye when their wagon withstands a harsh windstorm. To make is to love.

The Second Divine Charge: Scholarship

Mastercrafts require a master's understanding. Orians rest the day they are born; on day two the lessons begin. Devout Northerners are eager for wisdom waiting to be gleaned from past generations. Well-understood knowledge is strength of spirit. Oric clerics normally carry at least three books. They consider language and communication to be Pirhoua's greatest magic, allowing the divine power of knowledge to flow. More than just well read, they also pay attention to sources. The name of every useful book's author is like a password to more precious knowledge.

The Third Divine Charge: Legacy

An Oric Pirhouan beleives their knowledge is wasted if not passed on. One most receive the lessons in ancient texts, then impart them onto their children. Orians interpret Pirhoua's message as a comandment to give their children enjoyable lives. The most devout northerners commit themselves to showing their offspring the pleasures of life, and multiply them for the whole family by doing so. Adults believe that Joyful experiences shared with a son or daughter echo through the family forever. Thus a part of them shill continue living on too.
